Downtown Houston, May 2002. The original "Loewenstein's Cigars"
tiles
are still in the park around the corner from the store on Main St.,
although
the park, as with everything else downtown, is undergoing construction.
Another piece of tile work is revealed under the concrete as Main St.
is being torn up to put in light rail. This is at 216 Main St., the
original
store location. Notice that the "E" is a little different from the one
in the other sign.
Here are some side shots which show how the concrete had been poured
over the old tiles.
